Box 3: Pet's Emotional Triggers by Edison
The emotional and psychological health of pets is as important as that of humans. Pets have an instinctive fear of water by nature, so stress can easily occur during bathing. However, we have found our own ways to prevent and alleviate pet anxiety.
First, providing a stable environment can avoid stimuli and stress;Second, using rewards and positive reinforcement to alleviate anxiety; Furthermore, gradual guidance can also help pets gradually adapt and reduce the possibility of stress. We apply these methods in the daily bathing procedures of our grooming area.
Of course, the switch for good emotional health is also in the hands of the owner. We once had a customer's dog named Tutu, who suffered from separation anxiety. Its owner would increase interaction time with Tutu, playing and communicating with him before leaving home to build a closer emotional bond. Additionally, providing Tutu with a quiet, comfortable environment and avoiding frequent furniture changes or renovations are factors that can trigger anxiety.
After all, the people who know pets best and spend the most time with them are those who live with them. It is really important for owners to recognize and prevent anxiety behaviors in pets.
Box 4: Mind Yours, I'll Enjoy Mine by iNoMad
In the early stages of designing and developing this product, we actually referred to many existing designs for pets. However, many designs were too functionally oriented, materialistic, and stereotypical, which made them uninteresting.
'We wanted to incorporate more emotional, chaotic, and exploratory elements, so we added many different perspectives in the design.' For example, the need for 'pre-meal hunting play' is a result of focusing on the pet's perspective. We studied the meanings behind pet behaviors, sought commonalities between humans and pets, and amplified the companionship between pets and humans.
Ultimately, this low stool features a semi-enclosed space design. You can place a pet's food bowl inside, which then becomes a space for the pet's meals; you can also use a single post to increase play interactions with the pet, such as playing in circles or wrapping a rope around it to pull, thus simulating a hunting game, completing the 'hunt-capture-eat' exploration process.
Exploration is very important for pets. 'Exploration is not only a way to satisfy their curiosity, but also key to promoting their psychological and physical health.' Through exploration, pets can adapt more quickly to human environments and any changing environments. Also, the interaction between humans and pets during exploration has helped me understand some of the cat's seemingly strange behaviors better.
'I think treating pets is like taking care of them as one's own children. They give you much more than you provide. What ultimately moved us was when a pet lies on a person's shoulder, you can feel the pet's dependence and trust in you, you can feel its body temperature and movements, and no one can resist this heart-warming scene.
Know More, Stay Longer
These stories are by no means isolated cases. The essence of love is 'being seen.' ‘Seeing’ provides high-quality companionship characterized by love and attention. Beyond just ensuring they are fed, the deeper world they cannot voice should also be ‘seen’.
